...self-portrait tuesday - identity #4...

bride.jpg

I was a Hindu bride. No really I was. The Boy and I eloped, but his parents wanted us to have the short version of a Hindu ceremony. His younger brother got married a couple months before us and they had the three-day affair. It was amazing and fantastic. But such hard work, so I think everyone was glad when they did the condensed version for us. I still got an unbelievably beautiful red sari from my mother-in-law and the Boy had to wear a crown. He looked like a prince. My prince.
Our pandit was great; he would explain all of the traditions and what their meaning was. It is a really beautiful ceremony and I was honored to be welcomed into their family that way. Painted and dressed in red. I felt a little like a princess. Which was perfect since I already had a prince.
