painting for friday #19...

I have a little problem.
I just realized that the last six paintings (including this one are nameless).
When I try, I completely draw a blank. It happens with the softies too. There is a whole lotta white there. That is all I see white, when I search for the name.
The Boy is amazing, he looks at something and the name just leaps from his mouth.
I am constantly in awe.
My other problem is that I love things with titles and names.
I like to figure out how the title of a painting goes with the painting - if it means something or not.
If it means something to me or not.
The Boy is going to have to stop by and see what can be done about all my little nameless paintings. (pretty please)
Unless anyone wants to throw some names out and take a little heat off him...

Here is a close up of the girl.
The sketches for the next couple of paintings are pretty much the same girl with birds...on a bit of a series now...we'll see what happens.

these birds are the sweetest i have seen in such a long time! i am one for simple titles, usually one word - when i looked at this, "flock" flooded my mind.

Whew, I just finished reading all your archives (it took me a few days). I love your site and your work.
This painting is so breathtaking...I love the empty space and the way it looks like it could either be dawn or dusk. I love the faraway look in the girl's eyes and rhe cheery little birds.

wendy... your use of space is getting so so refined... i love it! those birds are fantastic!!
in terms of titles.... maybe think of a story.... and the titles could be chapters? or find a poem or something that you like and cull from that??

"Perched"? Has a sense of anticipation, to me. Love the painting.

hi wendy...this painting is great. the first title that came to my mind was one of my email address names: your yellow bird...i don't know if it helps any.

You know who comes up with the most wonderful names for her paintings is my dear friend Amy Ruppel: http://www.amyruppel.com/ (two of her recent pieces were titled, "Always Something New" and "Did You Hear Him?")
Your paintings are getting more and more evocative. That's the reward for being as prolific as you are. I haven't painted for months. But I'm on disability right now recovering from surgery, so I plan on getting back to it next week!

WOW! i am sorry that i am behind on seeing this but it is really lovely. i adore how you have used space and i wish so much to be on the branch too! nice work ...
and i think it's okay to be blank every once in a while. we can't expect to be full of ideas all of the time, can we? i love that you search for a name first. hugs! maria

totally love those little birds - beautiful work!!
I´m really bad with titles too, even at flickr I´m sometimes clueless how to name my photographs. Sometimes I think I should do it by numbers, but that´s so impersonal ... always a dilemma ;)
