...bring your pet to blog #11...

resting.jpg

This is one of her favorite spots. She has a little piece of cardboard that she pilfered from me. For a while she pushed it around the floor and would sit on it where ever it lay. She would sit there, as if it was her throne, but it ended up over in the corner. I feel a little like when you were in school and your science teacher sent you to the back of the room to face the corner for too much talking.
No that didn't happen to you?

Whatever it is she loves this little area (one she is surrounded by heat) and she is trying hard to will me to stop talking those stupid photos!!

...bring your pet to blog #10...

trixglass.jpg

Doesn't she look super sweet and lovely? Sitting there demurely on our dinner/my worktable.
I used to have water glasses all over the apartment. I was a crazy water drinker, still am, but now I have to be more careful or I get a mouthful of cat-flavored water. There is that moment after you swallow when you realize your water has become tainted. eck.

intheglass.jpg

Look at her.

I thought she only went for the full glasses, but she tested the depth with her paw and then squished her head in the glass.
Cute little devious girl.
Hmruf!

...cheers...

cheerstrix.jpg

This card is even more perfect since last night WAS a night of cheers.

Drinking and laughing.
Drinks traveling around the table, tasting, ohhing, and ahhing over delicious martinis that didn't taste at all like they had any alcohol, which was a bad thing this morning.
Last night it was just delicious.
Cake-tails & pie-tinis. Drinks with alcohol that taste like cake and pie?!
Delicious and dangerous.

...a painting & a peep #2...

Camilla's Peeping Friday again. This time we were supposed to take a look at our bathroom and it looks like lately I can't take a photo without Trixie.
It is one of her favorite rooms in the apartment (not that she has many rooms to choose from). Since I was in the bathroom for a while she came to investigate. Then she realized that she could investigate the cabinet. A place that is normally closed off to her.

I am still doing a painting a week. And I revisited cardboard again. For anyone that is wondering what ever happened to the other half of painting 11 1/2, it is on hold. My favorite power couple from LA thinks they may want to take it off my hands and they are visiting this weekend.
My first piece headed to another home (well maybe). So I'll do a little happy dance. I'll do a little happy dance anyway because the Boy and I have plans to hang out with them this weekend.

***a couple of additions...
I thought my little ice girl would work for Illustration's Friday this week, the theme of blue.
I have been in love with these rain boots since I saw my friend from Spain sporting them a couple weeks ago. Need to save my pennies!!****

...witness protection (bring your pet to blog)...

lupe.jpg

So I made a red bird. She is very sleek and speedy. Her name is Lupe.

subtle.jpg

As I was taking photos. I was noticing some interest from Trixie.

stalk.jpg

And it was getting a little worrysome for Lupe.

agent.jpg

After images that can't be shown on the web, we enrolled Lupe in the Witness Protection Program and Agent 'M' Hanttula speeded her away to the sunny land of California.

trixboy.jpg

I love p2p's post. Finding all her blogger friends paying attention to what makes them happiest and where they find inspiration. It is quite impressive and lovely.

A huge inspiration to me is Johanna. She is so crazy talented I almost can't stand it. Her album came out this week and she is having a show at Pete's Candy store on Saturday. If you in the city, try and stop by - she is really amazing!!

Above is the always playful Trixie and the Boy makes his first appearance after a bit on arm-twisting.

...bring your pet to blog #6...

Trixie was very interested in what was happening in HER bathroom, when I did my spt. But she was respectful of the space until I was done. Then she wanted to see what the hell was going on. I mean there were bubbles to be had. Bubbles and water. Love them together. So here is a post spt, which the Boy took. Right before she leaps up towards me and makes me flinch. Silly girl. Isn't Trixie so pretty though? Look at the great marking on her back and it includes her tail. I love that.

Bring your pet to blog was started by those lovely ladies over at p2p. I think that Johanna should do it. Tell us some stories of the beautiful and very very bad grandpa!

...bring your pet to blog #5...

The lovely port2port girls started this group and I think right now they are together in the west.
So here is Trixie loving Aiko's skirt when she visited me over the summer. She went to town while Aiko was just trying to check her mail at my little desk.

Oh and I set up a flickr account, it only has photos right now of the fashion show, but I am sure more will come...

...bring your pet to blog #4...

Bring your pet to blog started by the wonderful ladies over at p2p!! Miss the daily posts, but I am glad they are taking a break.

Trixie again. I know how much you all love her! And she loves the bathroom. When you go in, she must come in as well, if you close the door on her, she sits outside and cries. And the other day I took a bath, boy was she intrigued.

Pearched on the sink, just checking out the situation.

Wow there are bubbles down there.

Cara over at CaNOpy Road is hosting the next book swap. It is going to be your favorite children's book! Here's a link to how the first swap went.

I am heading to California this weekend for a wedding. The Boy is getting dressed up in a tux because he is one the the groomsmen. I have never seen him in a tuxedo, I am very excited.

...weekend cat blogging...

So I have been meaning to participate in Clare's Weekend Cat Blogging.
Trixie loves my natural smell. She always tries to stick her nose in my mouth in the morning to get a good long whiff of my morning breath (after I brush my teeth, she is so not interested) and she goes crazy over my shoes when they are good and sweaty. She will put her whole head in my shoe and make out. It is one of the weird things that she does. So here is Trixie sniffing my shoes (most days she has her whole head stuffed into the shoe). She is being polite for the camera:

...bring your pet to blog #2...

So those amazing girls over at port2port are taking a vacation this week (but a work vacation not a fun vacation, not like the lucky Johanna!). But they started the 'bring your pet to blog' and I am getting sucked in. I am turning into one of those ladies that take millions of photos of their cat. Which is even more distressing because I would not call myself a cat person. I always wanted to get a dog (but the apartments in New York are way too small). The Boy on the other hand has a soft spot for cats. And now I love her, she is the sweetest thing in the world, plus she is beautiful.

Recently she has taken to chilling in the bathroom sink. I guess it is cool, and she can just curl up in the bowl, but I yesterday morning she was just laying in the sink and I had the work camera so I took some photos. She is a little photo whore. I think she understood what I was doing so she posed for me! No really she kept on tilting her head giving me coy eyes. She knows what the camera is and she works it!

Our building is pre-war so that means a funky bathroom. Over the years, the super has fixed things in the bathroom and replaced the original tiles with white ones. The originals are these swirly green tiles. Now I love green (hello green girl) but my problem is that the replacements are so haphazard. So the bathroom is half green swirl and half white, but with no rhyme or reason. Not until I took a look at this photo did I begin to soften to the old tiles. They match Trixie's eye perfectly. Take a look:

Also does anyone have any tricks for getting warm water, when you have a separate hot and cold facets?

...bring your pet to blog...

Those wonderful girls over at port2port started this little group - bring your pet to blog.

The Boy and I are relatively new pet owners. You could say we adopted her. Or even better she found us.
Basically on a stormy snowing day (ah the snow - coolness - sweaters - I don't even love the winters, but the idea of not always being sweaty seems so far away!) back in March someone left a box in the outer lobby of our old building. (In the city you have two doors to get into the building. Usually the first set of doors is open to everyone and it is where the mailboxes are, and then you have a key to the next door to let you securely into the building)
Taped inside that box was two - TWO kittens!
How could they dare!
When I came home that evening they were in our lobby just sort of chilling. I only saw one of the kittens and thought someone had accidentally let her out. So, I brought her up to our apartment and the Boy said the super had someone picking them up soon. So I though all right and brought the little one back downstairs even though it killed me. That was one cute kitten, but it wasn't Trixie.
The next day as I left I looked around for the kittens and they were gone and I was glad that someone came to take them. Around noon the Boy called and said we were the proud owners of a new kitten. I guess the super's friend never came, but people did like I did and took the kittens into their apartments. One lady had taken in the Trixie, but couldn't keep her, and the Boy had told himself that if he saw any of the kittens he would take them in. (I was pretty destroyed the night before - I could not fathom taping up a box of kittens and just leaving it in some building! I was pretty much a mess of tears the whole night. I even went to take the trash down to see if they were gone a couple of hours later and they were, so I figured they had been picked up.)
He called me because we had no pet stores near by and we need supplies. Food, litter, litter box, food bowl, and some toys...so Sarah let me go early and I went and bought a gaggle of stuff for the new kitten.

Now Trixie is amazing. You can just be NEAR her and she purrs like crazy. She is very polite and wouldn't go up on the bed or couch until she got invited, once she is invited she'll come up when you ask (or when she is taking a nap). I love her! So again with no further ado this is Trixie in the morning peering up:

...take your pet to blog...

This dog is not actually mine. It is one of the dogs my boss brings to work. Her name is Shadow and she is such a great guard dog. Which is good in a painting studio that is usually all female.
Take your pet to blog day was started by the amazing p2p. mav & arc (shadow kind of looks like an older django) are two friends blogging together. You must check them out!! They are amazing.

shadow.jpg
Now to explain this photo, my bosses daughter had gone to a job interview near by and these shoes were killing her, so on her way back home she changed into some paint shoes. Now Shadow has claimed them as her own.
